Halton Region has become a Real Estate hotspot in Ontario. With easy commutes to Toronto, Mississauga, and Hamilton, the region has become an area sought after by business professionals and young families. Halton’s perfect mix of urban conveniences and access to nature, as well as its larger lot and home sizes, have created increased demand within this region.

Halton Region is located west of Toronto and is a part of Ontario’s Golden Horseshoe. Conveniently located between Mississauga and Hamilton, this regional municipality consists of Burlington, Oakville, Milton and Halton Hills (Georgetown and Acton).

Here are the top 3 neighbourhoods in Halton in 2021:

2. Palmer

Location: North-Central Burlington

Best Suited For: commuters, established buyers, buyers looking for space.

This neighbourhood has been the perfect oasis for those who fled cities like Toronto during the pandemic. Known for its abundance of large, older homes with spacious backyards, this neighbourhood saw prices grow by approximately 15% over the pandemic.

The homes in Palmer are known for being expansive, back or side-split, on larger lots and often require updating and renovations depending on your personal style. Even with the increase in prices over the last year, Palmer is still Halton’s 10th most affordable neighbourhood.

3. Uptown Core

Location: Oakville

Best Suited For: condo buyers, first-time buyers, commuters

Uptown Core is a newly constructed area, primarily filled with condos, townhomes, and some detached homes. What makes this area unique is its laneway housing style, making it one of the most walkable neighbourhoods in the region.

The mix of available housing has created a variety of people in this neighbourhood, from first-time homebuyers to commuters looking for a suburban feel. This area was designed to be more than just a neighbourhood. It is meant to feel like a community and have easy access to shopping, green space and other sought-after amenities.

Uptown Core was rated the third-best neighbourhood in the area and is by far the most affordable of areas in Oakville. Due to the number of condos in this neighbourhood, there was less of a price increase during the pandemic.

Our two cents

The future of Halton Region Real Estate is looking bright, with strong price growth and it will remain a seller’s market. Today, the average selling price in the Halton region is $1,245,062, and the average home stays on the market for just 12 days.

While these statistics are great for current homeowners in the region, they can intimidate potential buyers. In markets like this, buyers need to act decisively and make informed choices.
